TITA team from Ifé received on Tuesday a European delegation (Denmark, Estonia, Finland) of Guidance counselors, directors of Youth Centre and Trainers of teachers and of other school practitioners during their Study Visit in France. Together with Dolene Clerville, guidance counselor also involved in the TITA project, the team presented the whole project and especially the TIT@ction platform. A very interesting exchange took place.

Invited professor of the ENS, in the framework of TITA Project, Urška Štremfel (ERI, Slovenia) hold a conference-discussion on:
European approach towards early school leaving: scientific insights
Early school leaving (ESL) in the EU is recognized as an urgent and serious problem, both for individuals and society as a whole. It represents a waste of individual life opportunities and a waste of social and economic potential (European Parliament, 2011). According to that understanding, EU has been actively developing approaches to prevent it. One of the key policy messages identifying the critical conditions for successful policies against ESL is to “promote and support multi-professional teams in schools to address ESL”. Project TITA (Team cooperation to fight early school leaving: training, innovative tools and actions), which IFÉ is coordinating in years 2014 – 2017, addresses this EU policy message by providing scientific support, tools for actions and training, dedicated to trainers, practitioners and stakeholders.
At the seminar Urška Štremfel, coordinator of the TITA scientific base, will present scientific insights into European approach towards ESL. A special attention will be devoted to the questions of forming policy problem at the EU level and influencing educational policies in member states. Other scientific insights into early school leaving (its understanding in the EU and national contexts, origin and interplay of factors related to ESL, selected ESL factors as basis for prevention activities, problems and consequences of ESL), cooperation (at the system level, local-community level, level of multi-professional teams in school) and training (for cooperation in multi-professional teams, for cooperation with students), will be discussed as well.
About the guest researcher
Urška Štremfel is a research associate at the Educational Research Institute and part-time research associate at the Centre for Political Science Research at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. Her research interests include the European aspects of policy analysis, especially new modes of the EU educational governance and its influence on the national educational space. As part of this she devotes special attention to the role international comparative assessment studies play in shaping Slovenia’s (post-socialist) national education policy and the educational practices of Slovenian schools, as well as the development of evidence-based education.
